When veteran LAPD detective Hank Holten (Kevin Dillon) is assigned a routine missing persons case to investigate the disappearance of a local college coed, Layla Simmons (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), not even his boss and good friend Captain Billings (Lance Henriksen) could have foreseen the roller coaster ride of terror and suspense that Hank was about to experience.

To Captain Billings it was simply a way to help his friend take his mind off his ex-wife, Susan Hastings (Vanessa Angel), a successful author of supernatural thrillers, and her new boyfriend, TV actor and "Hollywood heartthrob" Jake Vincent (Alex McArthur).

To Hank it was just one more routine case. But when he spots Layla in the underground Hollywood rave club where she was last seen before her disappearance, he soon discovers that this case is anything but routine.

It isn't long before he finds himself in not only the most disturbing, dangerous case of his career, but also questioning his own sanity as he desperately struggles for his very survival.

Layla, it seems, has resurfaced as part of a family of vampires who lives in the bowels of an old, abandoned hospital in downtown Los Angeles. She lures Hank there where he finds himself surrounded by the "family" and people they invited. But soon the celebration turns into a blood feast as Layla and the others prey upon their unsuspecting guests!

In spite of his attempts to resist, shooting Layla as well as several other attackers, Hank is bitten. After passing out, he wakes to find himself alone and the building completely abandoned except for a lone security guard who tells Hank that he hasn't seen anyone else in the building in months.

Nursing the wound on his neck, Hank calls in backup and tries to explain what happened to Captain Billings, only to have him laugh at his preposterous story and accuse Hank of being drunk and delusional. He subsequently takes Hank's badge and gun away and tells him if he ever wants to come back to the job he better get some professional help.

Alone and desperate, Hank elects to solve the case on his own, staking out the hospital. But it isn't long before strange things begin to happen to him, and after a visit from Layla, he realizes he is rapidly becoming one of them! Now the clock is ticking .

Hank's only solution is to enlist the help of his ex-wife Susan. Convincing her proves nearly impossible, but once he succeeds, the two of them set out to destroy the evil society in order to save Hanks' life and very soul. From there we find ourselves on a twisted, action packed suspenseful journey of murder and betrayal where nothing is as it seems and everyone's survival is in question.
